Lifted trucks, side-by-sides, overland rigs and custom motorcycles: the “adventure lifestyle” has become one of the fastest-moving corners of the automotive world, and the industry is making room for it.
SEMA makes it official
For 2026, SEMA expanded its Powersports, side-by-side and lifestyle section in West Hall and placed it next to the Truck, SUV and Off-Road section. SEMA now calls the area an “Adventure Lifestyle” destination, covering side-by-sides, off-road vehicles, motorcycles, V-Twin performance and gear.
SEMA’s Battle of the Builders also added its first Bike Builder Shootout. Motorcycle builders now compete for a title next to the hot rod, off-road, sport compact and Young Guns classes.
Why it’s growing
- Everyone can join. A side-by-side or a trail-ready truck gets the whole family outdoors.
- Build culture translates. Lift kits, lighting, wheels, tires and armor offer the same build-it-your-way satisfaction hot rodders have always loved.
- It looks great on video. Trail runs, mud and desert dunes are some of the most watched content online.
Where hot rodders fit in
The skills are the same: fabrication, engineering and an eye for design. Many of today’s off-road and V-Twin builders grew up at car shows, and plenty of car shows now add an off-road corner or a bike row.
For brands, this crowd is passionate and buys gear. Reaching it takes a trusted voice, not just an ad.
